Ladies and Gentlemen. Slash …..

Fightstar favourite Charlie Simpson came to Academy 2 this evening, and I had the pleasure of shooting the show AND grabbing some portrait shots beforehand.
If you haven’t had chance to hear any of Charlies solo material then I suggest you do so. Young Pilgrim is the name of the album, and it could just be up there as one of my favourites of 2011.

The return of one of my local heroes tonight. Paul Rodgers returned to the North-East and upgraded from his usual haunt of Newcastle City Hall to the Metro Radio Arena, bringing with him a boat load of anthems and a man who has some Led Zep heritage in his blood !
I’ve been waiting to catch up with Benji and the boys for the last few years. A few friends of mine rave about Skindred live and tonight I get to find out just how good they are !

I’ve been looking forward to this part of the evening for quite some time – latest album ‘Audio Secrecy‘ has grown on me a lot and I make no secret of the fact that I’m a bit of a Corey Taylor fan ! I love Slipknot, but tonight is all about seeing Corey and the boys in a more ‘relaxed’ guise….
It’s a sell out in the Toon tonight and there’s a lot of hype for this evening, in particular for Avenged Sevenfold. As the lights go out and their intro hits, the curtain thats been disguising the stage since the exit of Stone Sour suddenly drops. We’ve got a fully fledged graveyard (complete with headstones and flame throwers), and the whole place is filled with smoke. Synester Gates slowly walks on stage performing the intro to Nightmare, and the whole place erupts
Things have gone full circle for me. If you remember rightly, my very first gig as a photographer was right here in this very concert hall for this very same artist (check it out here).
Tonight I’m back behind the lense again for the one, the only, Joe Satriani.

For a band that started as a ‘bit of fun’, Fozzy are seriously turning heads since the release of ‘Chasing the Grail’ – tonight we’ve got them at the Empire and I for one am seriously looking forward to this !

In only it’s second year of existance, Sonisphere 2010 was something of a powerhouse. After being left severely dissapointed with this years under performing Download Festival, Sonisphere restored my faith in the Festival experience.
Time to switch off the brain tonight. Steel Panthers 80′s revival is here and it’s brought along a a boat load of hairspray, girls and cock jokes !
