15/05/08 - Robin Trower @ Newcastle Carling Academy

Hunched over, eyes closed and a grimace on his face, Robin Trower in the flesh is the epitome of Robin Trower the icon.
Tonight the setlist included about half of the classic ‘Bridge of Sighs’ album mixed up with other gems from his ever expanding back catalogue, and his ever trusty wah pedal got plenty of opportunity to unleash its growling fury.
The sound quality itself wasn’t great to start with, singer Davey Pattison being the main casualty of Mr Trowers high volumes, but this seemed to get rectified pretty sharply and on the slower numbers Davey really got to show off his impressive pipes.
An impressive evening all around then. Between Aynsley and Robin the crowd definitely got their fill of great fretwork, and I had a great time in the photo pit running around like a looney. Nothing new there then!

Photographers notes.
The lighting between Robin and Aynsley was pretty much the same (flat and boring). Quite surprising really as its normally the case that the lights get ramped up for the main act, but hey, cant complain.
