There’s always a worry that your going to get attitude and grief when you get to meet anyone who is genuine rock royalty, but Duff Mckagan couldn’t be a nicer guy if he tried.
After sneaking in a quick backstage photoshoot with Loaded earlier in the day, I’m feeling decidely relaxed in the photo pit before they take to the stage – this one is going to be fun !
Papa Roach never fail to amaze me. I’ve seen them three times now, and on each occassion they’ve always been the first band of the day with the balls to step up and get the party started. Tonight, they didn’t let me down !

Paolo Nutini appears to be a bit of a musical chamelon to me at times. His first album ‘These Streets‘ put him firmly in the camp of ‘safe’ songwriting legends such as (*cough cough* ah-hem *cough cough*) David Gray and James Blunt, but his new album ‘Sunny Side Up‘ crosses many a genre boundary and is probably enough for now to keep him a little bit different from the pack. One things for sure, he’s adored by his fans !

I’m not really a fan of backing tracks in live music – I understand why they are used, but they always push an element of doubt into how much exactly is played ‘live’. I’d heard rumours that Dead By April use at least a smattering of pre-recorded instrumentation, and the keyboards are certainly noticeable (by the fact they are too intricate to be triggered, plus the lack of a keyboardist).
Cometh the hour, cometh the man. The Love Revolution is in town, and after a 45 minute wait, Lenny Kravitz has finally returned to Newcastle to show us the way.
Anna F is providing support this evening and although her band is tight, I think she’s a poor choice as a warm up for Lenny Kravitz.
I wanted someone to grab me more by the balls, and dissapointingly, I didnt get it.
