Great little set from Wishbone Ash tonight. Apart from the fact that they played in near enough pitch black, the punters went home happy bunnies.

I’d heard big things about Wishbone Ash, and being from an era where the twin guitar approach is commonplace, I would love to have been around at a time where it was a new approach. Its common knowledge that the band influenced others such as Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Eagles, so they had big boots to fill in my eyes, and I’m pleased to say they did it well.

Andy Powell is nothing short of a superb front man, and he clearly cares about the relationship the band has with the fans. He’s quick to thank them for their ongoing support, and its quite obvious that he doesnt take them for granted. Leading the band through their extensive back catalogue of songs, its clear there is a mutual respect between stage and floor.

Interesting stage setup, with the band deploying two large monitors that displayed ever changing video footage throughout which made metering a little bit difficult given the previously mentioned darkness. 24-70 was mainly used, but I had to pull the 50mm 1.8 out of the bag (thats a great in case of emergency lense, thanks for the recommendation Lee), to get anywhere close in some places.
